It is important to note that the time allotted for the examination includes the tutorial, the sample items, all breaks and the examination.

The content of the PTEX Examinations is based on the national skill standards for each. The skill standard includes work-oriented information (such as critical work functions, key activities and performance criteria for the work to be performed) and worker-oriented information (such as the technical, academic and employability knowledge and skills needed to perform the work). Both examinations may include items at all of the cognitive levels.
